Despacito was a track from the year 2017 made by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi. It became the top popular streamed song in the world within 6 months. The mix of reggaeton with pop music has not only brought attention back to this genre but as well to Latin music as a whole. The Billboard Top 100 featured two songs that were Spanish predominantly, as well as four songs in the year 2016. The Despacito song was at its peak popularity in 2017, however, 19 predominantly Spanish tracks made the Top 100 as well, and by 2020 there were 41 songs. Justin Bieber remixed Despacito 2017 with a version in two languages. Soon, other artists collaborated with reggaeton superstars including Drake as well as Bad Bunny with MIA (2018), Madonna and Maluma together with Medellin 2019. The gradual mainstreaming of reggaeton became an issue for some artists by 2020. Rauw alejandro and a younger generation wanted to preserve the style. The musician incorporated electronic dance music and other genres into his songs.
